My Thesis The Correspondance between Jean le Rond d'Alembert and Leonhard Euler Mathematics had never been a solitary subject. Mathematicians have always needed to work with other mathematicians to share their ideas and improve their theorems. Leonhard Euler was one of the great mathematicians of the 18th century. He was a critical figure in the history of mathematics, especially calculus, he introduced a lot of terminology and notation and he was the traditional founder of graph theory. Jean le Rond d'Alembert was a french mathematician in the same period, less famous than Euler, but who nonetheless also solved important problems in mathematics and physics. The two had a long relationship where they gave each other problems, wrote the solutions, and discussed mathematical and physical questions. They only met up several times in their lives, but they wrote each other for many years. At the beginning, the got along well, but later they fought, and they ended their letters abruptly. In this thesis, I will translate some of the their letters, which were never before translated to English, and then I will examine the life of these two mathematicians and their relationship, and explain the effect of this relationship on mathematics and their contributions to this area.
